Song-Based Story-Listening: “Rosa, ¡qué linda eres!”

I created a short story inspired by the song “Rosa” by Colombian DJ Fabi Hernández and singer Mathieu Ruz. This upbeat, catchy song is perfect for beginners to sing and dance to their heart’s content. There is a lyric video with translations to sing along, plus a fantastic line dance choreography by French dancers Marlon RONKES and Romain BRASME. If you are ready for a challenge, you can even follow a teaching video to learn the moves.

The story uses only 26 headwords and 13 cognates, giving you clear exposure to these words: HAY, ES, ERES, SON, ESTÁ SOLA, TRISTE, FELIZ, TIENE, VE, VA, LE DICE, ESCUCHA, MUY, MUJER, JARDÍN, FLOR, ROJA, PEQUEÑA, GRANDE, HERMOSA, LINDA, TODOS LOS DÍAS, UN DÍA. You can watch the story, read it, listen while reading, and then bring it all together by singing and dancing to the song.

Click to download a PDF of the reading. I added two extra words, AHORA and YA NO, to highlight the change in the woman’s situation and her new happiness now that she is no longer sad.
